Yes, it’s a mess

With regard to “High­way 111 a mess” (Oct. 28), I con­cur. As a senior cit­i­zen approach­ing 70, I find it appalling that so many dri­vers, not just seniors, drive in the left lane, slow­ing down traffic.

In Penn­syl­va­nia there are signs that say, “Slower traf­fic keep to the right. It’s the Law.” I don’t see any such signs in the Coachella Val­ley. Peo­ple from other coun­tries may not know. Per­haps The Desert Sun could have a con­test for some humor­ous slo­gans to help – slo­gans such as “Hey slow poke: Move into the right lane” or: “Hey chatty Kathy: Pull over to the right with your cell phone”. Some such signs would draw atten­tion to the prob­lem and edu­cate the young, the lost, the pre­oc­cu­pied, seniors and visitors.

Per­haps ban­ners over the streets in all of our cities would be a reminder dur­ing the sea­son to keep right and pass left.

So this is the cov­er­age map for the west end of the Coachella Val­ley – you know … the val­ley that has nearly 411,000 peo­ple in it. Basi­cally, you can walk around and talk, bet­ter not drive through the light­est green areas while talk­ing, and unless you are in dark green, don’t expect to talk indoors accord­ing to their key. What in the hell?

I went to Wells-Fargo today with a bag of change. They said I have to pre-roll it myself to deposit it. I said, “you’re a bank! This is legal ten­der.” She says, “well sir, I can use the change sifter for a fee, but it’s cheaper to do that at the gro­cery store across the street.”

AND she had attitude!

I say, “are you work­ing tomor­row?” She replies that she was (more atti­tude) to which I reply, “can you help me with order­ing new checks then”? She can. I say, “well good, I will have this all con­verted to pen­nies today and when I return tomor­row you will count them as pay­ment for the new checks.” Cor­po­ra­tions can suck!
