from the Desert Sun Letters to the Editor today:
Yes, it’s a mess
With regard to “Highway 111 a mess” (Oct. 28), I concur. As a senior citizen approaching 70, I find it appalling that so many drivers, not just seniors, drive in the left lane, slowing down traffic.
In Pennsylvania there are signs that say, “Slower traffic keep to the right. It’s the Law.” I don’t see any such signs in the Coachella Valley. People from other countries may not know. Perhaps The Desert Sun could have a contest for some humorous slogans to help – slogans such as “Hey slow poke: Move into the right lane” or: “Hey chatty Kathy: Pull over to the right with your cell phone”. Some such signs would draw attention to the problem and educate the young, the lost, the preoccupied, seniors and visitors.
Perhaps banners over the streets in all of our cities would be a reminder during the season to keep right and pass left.

Thank you Mr. Johnston!

So this is the coverage map for the west end of the Coachella Valley – you know … the valley that has nearly 411,000 people in it. Basically, you can walk around and talk, better not drive through the lightest green areas while talking, and unless you are in dark green, don’t expect to talk indoors according to their key. What in the hell?

I went to Wells-Fargo today with a bag of change. They said I have to pre-roll it myself to deposit it. I said, “you’re a bank! This is legal tender.” She says, “well sir, I can use the change sifter for a fee, but it’s cheaper to do that at the grocery store across the street.”
AND she had attitude!
I say, “are you working tomorrow?” She replies that she was (more attitude) to which I reply, “can you help me with ordering new checks then”? She can. I say, “well good, I will have this all converted to pennies today and when I return tomorrow you will count them as payment for the new checks.” Corporations can suck!
